What to do when you can't get yourself together

Here's the reality. Not everything you need to do in your life is fun or immediately gratifying. In fact, the reality is that nearly all of the most important things that must be done to improve yourself in any way are likely to be tedious. But, they are the most important things to do.


If you think, for one second, that you'll do it later when you could be doing it now, you won't. That's procrastination, and people procrastinate mostly not because they don't think something is important or don't truly plan to do it, but because they foresee failure anyway. So they do nothing, instead.


So, what's really important? EVERYTHING. Everything is everything. How do you decide what to do and when to do it?


Create a list of what must be done today. The 3 things that you really don't want to do should be the first 3 items. After those 3 things are all the other tasks. Here's an example: you want to write a book, but you can't get yourself to sit and put time down in front of the computer screen. Instead, you do everything else and never spend the time writing. It's a dream of yours, but you can't bring yourself to do it.

Or... writing is the first item on your list. You wake up and write 500-1000 words a day before anything else. It is what you want to do least, need to do most, and is priority number one.


Discipline is not something you just have. It's something you work on forever. But here's the truth:



DISCIPLINE EQUALS FREEDOM


The more effective you become with your time, the more you will achieve. But, what's interesting, is that the more you get done, the more time you seem to have to do more!
