The Intelligent Approach to Healthy Eating

Writer's picture: Aaron FruitstoneAaron Fruitstone

What if I told you there isn't a single diet plan that will help every single person reach their dream weight and maintain it, while improving their health.

PALEO KETO INTERMITTENT FASTING ATKINS LOW CARB CARB CYCLING BODYBUILDING BULLETPROOF WEIGHT WATCHERS MEDITERRANEAN VEGETARIAN/VEGAN ETC...

Believe it or not, all of these, and more, are good. And may work for you, or not.

People are different. Nutrition is too. People from the Massai eat very differently than those from the Mediterranean, yet both have great health, success, and longevity.

Food is more than fuel, it's information for the body. It tells you what hormones to release, what proteins to build and genes to express, and yes, it provides energy too.

You must first eat to get HEALTHY. Then, and only then, can you expect to reap the benefits of a quality diet.

There are commonalities in nearly all nutrition programs that can benefit people. Here are a few of them:

-Eat real, whole foods -Avoid processed foods -Eat a varied diet -Limit sugar intake as much as possible -Food consumption should come from predominantly plant sources -Choose animal proteins from high quality sources, not conventionally produced -Don't overeat portions -Eat complex carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables, choosing lower glycemic foods when possible -Eat plenty of good fats from plants and animals, avoid poor quality fats -Avoid sodas and artificial sweeteners -Limit grain consumption, and always choose whole grain sources -Drink water -Exercise and move daily -Eat adequate portions for you

The diets listed above are tools to use for your toolbox. Some of the most powerful of them are:

Intermittent fasting Keto Paleo Carb cycling

YET ALL ARE STILL SIMPLY TOOLS!

None of them should be used all the time without a strategy. They are TOOLS to cycle in and out of, and pay attention to how your body responds to each.

For example, if you are sugar addicted and want to start intermittent fasting, use a few weeks of keto or paleo style eating to prime your body and move towards a fat burning metabolism. Once you have gotten through the withdrawal symptoms of sugar detoxification, you'll be ready to add fasting without experiencing extreme fatigue and hunger, and will be able to intelligently add some starchy carbohydrates back into your diet without any problems. You'll have greater success and will be able to sustain your regimen better.

Never lose sight of the fact that you are unique, so what worked for your friend may not work the same way for you.

Remember, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail!
