You've been "dieting" and "exercising" for years now. Maybe you've even "hired a trainer". Perhaps you've been "strict" all week. Yet, you put on your clothes and they get tighter and tighter.
Ever wonder why, if you're working so hard, you still come up short?
There's a secret to success. And it's one simple word.
CONSISTENCY
Yep, that's it.
Dieting is a set up for failure. It's a specialized eating regimen that is designed to help you lose weight. And maybe you do, for a while. Until you go back to the way you were before, or maybe even a few pounds more.
Instead, you need to change your diet, not go on a diet. Add more fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat some nuts and seed. Don't eat pre-packaged food. Eat some protein. Don't snack. Use intermittent fasting to increase your metabolic flexibility. Drink more water. Stop eating sugar.
Do this EVERY DAY.
Exercising isn't gonna fix you. You sit for 8-10 hours a day, watch too much TV, play on the iPad, then sleep only 6 hours.
Instead, you need daily movement. Walk 10K steps each day, perhaps for 10 minutes every hour you are sitting. Park further away. Take the stairs. Lift weights, training your entire body. Go to sleep earlier. Turn off your cellphone, TV, tablet, and computer at night. Get up at the same time each day.
Do this EVERY DAY.
Your personal trainer can't fix you. Paying for sessions, but not putting in the work doesn't help you. Showing up late, missing sessions, or not following their coaching isn't positive action.
Instead, realize that you're investing in your health. Take it seriously. Take responsibility for your success or failure. Don't expect anyone to solve your problems for you. Listen to your coach, they have your best interest in mind.
Do this EVERY DAY.
Being strict on your program for short term doesn't help you. You need to put in the focus, long-term.
Instead, focus on changing your behavior. Making better food choices, following a quality sleep regimen, drinking enough water, moving and exercising daily, and developing your mind are the path. Not being "strict" on yourself.
Do this EVERY DAY.
In fact, if your habits become ones of consistency and progress, you'll be able to enjoy the occasional indulgences without care. The opposite, however, is not true.
Nothing, I don't care what you hear or who says it, replaces CONSISTENCY. Nothing.
